What the Curriculum Has Established
Nineteen modules. Five series. One finding: the United Kingdom has legalised a medicine, created a clinical pathway for its prescription, and left the infrastructure that supports it entirely undocumented, unregulated, and in most cases, foreign-dependent.
The device through which the medicine is administered has no documented care standard. The home in which it is administered has no clinical framework. The regulatory bodies responsible for patient safety have published no guidance. The manufacturers have provided no protocol. The prescribers have no handover document to give their patients.
This curriculum is the first entity anywhere to document, structure, and publish a device care standard for patients prescribed CBPMs. That is not a commercial claim. It is a matter of public record.
The question this module addresses is: what comes next?
The Infrastructure Gap
The UK prescribed CBPM supply chain is almost entirely foreign-dependent. Canada. The Netherlands. Portugal. Australia. Israel. The medicine is prescribed here. The infrastructure that supports it is built elsewhere.
This is not a niche concern. It is the same structural vulnerability that the UK identified — too late — in PPE during the pandemic. In semiconductors. In energy. A nation that legalises a medicine and makes itself entirely dependent on foreign supply for it has created a national vulnerability. The domestic infrastructure to support self-sufficiency does not yet exist.
Purus Lumina was established to begin building it — starting with the layer that was most absent and most documentable: device care.
The Reframe
CBPMs are not a social issue. Not a lifestyle issue. Not a political issue.
They are a national infrastructure issue.
The UK has legalised a medicine. It has created a clinical pathway. It has issued thousands of prescriptions. And it has made itself entirely dependent on foreign supply for every component of the infrastructure that supports those prescriptions — the medicine, the device, the ancillary products, the care standard.
The domestic infrastructure to support self-sufficiency does not yet exist. This curriculum is the first documented contribution to building it.
The Role of This Curriculum
This curriculum — all 21 modules, five series, published in perpetuity — establishes:
- That the gap exists and has been documented
- That the documentation has been published and is part of the public record
- That the documentation has been submitted to the relevant regulatory and institutional bodies
- That a domestic entity — UK-registered, UK-based, UK-supply-chain — has taken responsibility for filling it
The curriculum is submittable to NICE, MHRA, NHS England, and the Home Office as a formal educational contribution. It is archivable in perpetuity. It is the first of its kind anywhere in the world.
What comes next is built on what this curriculum has already done. The device care standard exists. The product exists. The education programme exists. The institutional submissions have been made. The record is established.
The next step is scale — clinical, institutional, and domestic. That work is underway.
