Built from inside a gap patients should never have had to solve.
Purus Lumina began with one patient, one device, and the absence of a clear standard for looking after it.
Where it started
Purus Lumina was founded in the UK by a patient using prescribed botanical medicine. The device was part of the treatment pathway, but clear guidance for cleaning, maintenance, and long-term care was not.
The question was straightforward: if the device affects how prescribed medicine is delivered, why was there no patient-centred care standard to support it?
That question became the starting point for the products, protocols, education, and infrastructure we are building today.
The problem we chose to solve
A vaporiser or other delivery device is not separate from the treatment routine. Residue, blocked pathways, worn components, and inconsistent maintenance can affect how a device performs and how confidently a patient can use it.
Patients should not have to rely on guesswork, generic cleaning advice, or a collection of disconnected instructions. They should be able to understand what good care involves and why it matters.
The device was available. The care standard was not.
We identified the gap and began building the standard around the patient.
What we built
We developed a dedicated purification solution and a supporting approach to device care for people using prescribed botanical medicine. The focus is practical: suitable materials, clear routines, careful handling, and maintenance that can be repeated in real life.
Alongside the products, we built the Purus Lumina Device Care Curriculum and the Insights Library. They bring together practical device knowledge, patient education, technical context, and transparent discussion of what is known and what remains uncertain.
The point is not to make patients work harder. It is to make the right routine easier to understand and maintain.
Why it matters
Device care sits at the intersection of patient confidence, product performance, hygiene, continuity, and informed use. It deserves more than generic advice.
Our work is focused on the UK prescribed medicine pathway, while remaining useful to clinicians, pharmacies, manufacturers, and partners who care about better standards.
